Motorola Razr Fold review: a confident book-style foldable with a battery you can count on
Two days of battery, fast charging and a great zoom camera, in a stylish body that isn't the slimmest.
Thumbs up
- Two days of battery
- 80W charging
- Strong camera with excellent zoom
- Lovely 8.1-inch inner screen
- Seven years of updates
Thumbs down
- 243 grams
- Not especially slim
- IP49, little dust protection
Take the Razr Fold off the charger on Monday morning and you can rely on it into Tuesday night. The 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery gives it two days of real use, and it just keeps going. When you do plug in, 80W charging tops it up in a hurry. A quick stop at an outlet while you get ready in the morning is plenty.
It's Motorola's opening move in book-style foldables, and it feels much more confident than you'd expect. It isn't trying to be the thinnest, the most powerful or the most loaded with cameras. It just gets the big things right.
Screens
Open it up and the 8.1-inch inner display is lovely, with a minimal crease. You can run up to three apps at once, side by side or stacked. Even with six apps going in split-screen, it doesn't falter.

Cameras
The 50MP main camera uses Sony's LYTIA 828 sensor, and the camera setup is strong across the board. Zoom is where it really shines. There's a 20MP selfie camera on the outside and a 32MP one on the inside, so selfies look good folded or open. Video records in 8K at 30 frames per second or 4K at 60.
Design
At 243 grams (8.6 oz), it isn't light or especially sleek, but it doesn't feel heavy in your hand, and it's reasonably slim for what it is. It'll fit a jeans pocket, but you'll know it's there. The design has Motorola's signature flair, with a touch of class that makes it stand out, in Pantone Blackened Blue.
Speed
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is no slouch. Apps and games run smoothly, and all the effort Motorola put into the display didn't come at the expense of speed.
The rest
Dolby Atmos tuning gives the speakers fuller bass and richer depth. It's rated IP49, so rain and splashes are fine, but it isn't sealed against fine dust. It takes an eSIM plus a physical SIM, and has a side fingerprint sensor and face unlock. Motorola promises seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates.
