Apple acquires Animato to improve Vision Pro Personas avatars

Apple spent $2 billion to fix Vision Pro avatars because the hardware cannot sense your mouth well enough to make them talk like a person. The acquisition is also a rehire: Francesco Rossi built face recognition at Apple for seven years before founding Animato in 2022. Apple is not buying outside expertise. It is buying back its own escaped knowledge.
