Bose announced two open-ear earbuds on Thursday: a second generation of its $299 Ultra Open Earbuds and a new $199 pair called the Sport Open. The Ultra Open gets a new driver aimed at bass and volume, two of the biggest weak points of most open earbuds. Battery goes from 7.5 to 9 hours, the case now charges wirelessly and stands upright, and a new Cinema Mode adds Bose's spatial audio for movies and shows.

The Sport Open is Bose's first fitness pair in this style, with a snugger C-shaped fit, a silicone finish, textured buttons and an IP54 rating for sweat and light rain. It runs 7 hours on a charge. Neither pair has noise canceling, which is the tradeoff of leaving your ears open. Preorders start September 19, and both ship October 1.

Update, Sep 17, 1:12 PM CT: Android Headlines reported that preordering the new Bose open earbuds directly from Bose requires a My Bose account.
