The Fitbit Edge goes on sale October 27, and it has no NFC chip, so Google Wallet won't work on it at all. Android Police asked Google why. According to Google, fewer than one percent of active Charge 6 users regularly set up or used wrist payments, so it put features people asked for more often first. Fall detection and automatic emergency calls are missing too. Google keeps those on the Pixel Watch and says they need LTE and Wi-Fi hardware that won't fit in the Edge's slim, cheaper body. Sleep breathing metrics aren't there yet either, and Google says it's looking at adding them in a software update.
The Google Health app lets you pair two Pixel wearables to one account, so you can wear a heavier Pixel Watch during the day and sleep in the Edge at night. The Edge also tracks blood pressure trends, which the Charge 6 doesn't. The Charge 6 keeps NFC and Google Wallet, though, and it's $124 at Walmart against $179 for the Edge. If you pay with your wrist, buy the older one.
