Samsung and Xiaomi are both reportedly developing clip-style open-ear buds, about six months after Xiaomi pioneered the form factor.
Xiaomi launched clip-style open-ear buds roughly six months ago, and now Samsung is reportedly copying the design outright. Open-ear buds sit outside the ear canal so you can hear the world around you while still listening to audio, and that format is now moving from quirky novelty to mainstream fast. When Samsung follows, the format is no longer a Xiaomi experiment. Apple, notably absent from this conversation, still sells in-ear AirPods as its main product.
