Samsung's first over-ear headphones have been certified by TÜV Rheinland, a German lab that tests electronics before they go on sale. Darshan S, who tracks certification listings for SammyGuru, found it under model number SM-U700.

The certificate calls them a Bluetooth headset and gives one number: a charging input of 5 volts at 1 amp, which works out to 5 watts. It doesn't list a battery size or how long they play between charges. There's no photo of the hardware in it either.

Samsung's app code first called these headphones Galaxy H1 back in August. Earlier this month, Android developer @evowizz, who had the Galaxy Buds On name before Samsung used it, said they'd launch as Galaxy Studio. SammyGuru now reports that Samsung has filed a trademark application for that name. So the name now has Samsung's own paperwork behind it.

In September, strings in Samsung's app turned up head tracking, a Conversation mode, dedicated noise controls, touch gestures and an automatic power-off setting. Samsung hasn't confirmed any of them, and it isn't clear which will make the final product. The feature list reported in August also included noise cancelling, Bluetooth 6.0 and automatic switching between your devices.

Samsung has owned HARMAN since 2017, and HARMAN already sells headphones under JBL, AKG and Harman Kardon. In 2025 HARMAN bought Sound United, which brought Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz and Polk Audio into the same company. What Samsung hasn't done is put the Galaxy name on an over-ear pair.

Apple's AirPods Max and Sony's WH-1000X line are the pairs Galaxy Studio would go up against. To take them on, Samsung needs to match them on sound, noise cancelling, comfort and battery life, and a 5-watt charging rating tells you nothing about any of those.

Darshan expects the headphones to show up with more certification bodies over the next few weeks, with more details coming out each time. A battery size or a first look at the design would be the next useful thing to learn.

Samsung hasn't announced the headphones, a price or a launch date. If you're buying over-ear headphones for the holidays, pick from what's on the shelf now. Galaxy Studio isn't something you can plan around yet.
