A paired phone may be able to unlock the watch, so you don't tap a PIN

Android Authority found an in-development feature called Phone to Watch Unlock in Google's Connected Phone & Watch services app. It reverses Watch Unlock, so an unlocked phone would clear the watch instead of you entering a PIN. Google has said nothing about it.

What to know

Google is working on a feature that would let a paired phone unlock a Pixel Watch, so you would not have to tap in a PIN, according to Android Authority. It found the feature in July 2026 while it was still being built in Google's Connected Phone & Watch services app.

It is the reverse of Watch Unlock, the feature that already lets a Pixel Watch unlock a paired phone, Android Headlines reported. The code describes setting it up once and moving the setting to a newer watch.

Google has not announced the feature or given it a date, and features found this way can change or never ship.
