The changelog runs long. Offline Gemini handles core commands on the watch itself, so a timer, a workout or Do Not Disturb work with no connection. The raise to talk gesture model has been updated. Double pinch now opens At a Glance and the notification center from the watch face, scrolls a Gemini response, and moves through cards in Wallet.
The one to read carefully is Proactive Suggestions. Google describes Gemini finding the dinner in your calendar and putting it on your wrist without you going near the phone, which is the version of this that would change how the watch gets used day to day. Gadgets & Wearables reported that it only works when the Pixel Watch 5 is paired with a Pixel 11, with Gemini and proactive assistance enabled on the phone. Gemini Personalization, the one that answers from Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube and Photos, works from an offline profile alongside real-time retrieval.
