Apple support document 148354 says Sound Recognition is available on the Apple Watch Series 12. The Series 12 product page says it is coming late 2026. Both went up the same week, both are Apple's, and neither carries a correction.

The feature listens for sirens, alarms, doorbells and a crying baby, then taps your wrist when it hears one. It needs a Series 12 or an Apple Watch Ultra 4, the two watches running the new S11 chip. On the phone side it asks for an iPhone 11 or later, or an iPhone SE from the second generation on.

Live Rewind and Siri Recap, the other two Audio Intelligence features, need an iPhone 16 or newer. Sound Recognition is the one a buyer with an older phone could count on when the watch arrives on Friday, September 18, which is why the date matters. It is also the only one of the four with an alerting job, which is to tell you about something you did not hear.

Support document 148354, published September 9, lists Music Recognition as available alongside Sound Recognition, and puts Live Rewind and Siri Recap in a beta later in 2026. The product page groups all three of the late features together, Sound Recognition included. The two pages agree on everything else, so the disagreement is one feature wide.

The marketing page applies the same late 2026 label to the two features the document also defers, which reads as a deliberate grouping rather than a stale page. Apple has not published tech-spec support documents for the Series 12 or the Ultra 4 yet, so there is no third page to settle it, and we are not treating the support document as the winner. The Mac Observer found the same contradiction reading both.

Audio Intelligence starts in English for the United States, with more languages and regions planned and no date attached. Siri AI will not be available in the EU at first, on the watch or the phone. The S11 handles the audio inside a Secure Exclave, a walled-off compartment of the chip, and Apple says no recordings are kept.

watchOS 27 ships free on Monday, September 14. The watches reach stores on Friday, September 18. Apple has not said which of its two pages is correct.
