Apple has to publish an energy label on its iPhone product pages in the EU, and that label carries the mAh figure the spec sheet never mentions. For the models that still have a SIM tray, the iPhone 18 Pro comes in at 4,056 mAh against the 17 Pro's 3,988, a rise of 1.7 percent. The Pro Max is 5,391 mAh against 4,823, a rise of 11.7 percent. MacRumors pulled both numbers off the labels the afternoon of the announcement.

So the battery story this year is really a Max story. Apple talked about the biggest jump in iPhone battery life on stage, and the smaller Pro moved by a rounding error while the larger one gained nearly a tenth of its capacity. There is a second set of numbers still missing. Models sold without a SIM tray, which covers the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico and several Gulf markets, carry a slightly larger cell in the space the tray used to occupy, and Apple has not confirmed those capacities.
