Apple has confirmed the inner screen cracks that iPhone Duo owners have been posting since the phone went on sale. In a statement from an Apple spokesperson, the company said it is "aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units" and that owners with display problems "should contact AppleCare for a replacement." It's the first thing Apple has said about the cracks, which owners have photographed along the crease within days of launch. The statement doesn't say what's causing them or how many phones are affected.
Apple's standard warranty normally covers a screen that cracks because of a manufacturing defect, as long as the phone hasn't been dropped or damaged. Tom's Guide also reported AI-generated fakes posing as customer complaints, so some of the cracked Duos going around online never existed. If yours really has cracked, AppleCare is where Apple wants you to start.
