Dan Bracaglia wore Google's $179 Fitbit Edge for ten days for Tom's Guide and highly recommends it as a replacement for the Charge 6. Its 1.34-inch AMOLED screen is bigger and brighter than the Charge 6's, and it adds an altimeter for climb data. His battery beat Google's seven-day rating by a full day. On a hilly walk around Seattle, though, the Edge logged 2.29 miles where Strava on his iPhone logged 2.47. There's no NFC either, so you can't pay with it the way you could with the Charge 6.
Joe Maring wore his for a little over a week for Android Authority and came away disappointed. He finished day seven with a little over 10% battery left. On a route he's run many times, the Edge logged 6.25 miles where Strava and his Amazfit watch both logged 6.42. It sends no vibration alerts for mile splits, it can't log sets, reps and weights, and there's no microphone or speaker. If you want it for background health tracking, Maring says it excels. If you want it for running, both distance tests came in short.
