Apple has told suppliers to cut October component orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max by 15% to 20% against its original requests, Nikkei Asia reported, citing people in Apple's supply chain. One source said Apple got more cautious about shipments in early September. Both phones went on sale September 18 at $1,199 and $1,299, $100 more than the models they replaced. UBS analysts have also seen average delivery waits for the 18 Pro fall in more than 30 markets while supply holds steady. Apple hasn't commented.

AppleInsider reported that its own sources say whole-unit assembly orders for the 18 Pro haven't been cut. Apple also put three premium phones in its fall lineup, including the $1,999 iPhone Duo arriving October 23, and moved the standard iPhone 18 to early 2027. So the cheaper model that usually lifts fall volume isn't here yet, and higher prices can make up for some of the units Apple doesn't sell. If you want an 18 Pro, one ordered now should arrive quickly.
