Samsung’s headline Vitals feature isn’t entirely new. Oura has long used changes in metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, and sleep patterns to warn users they may be getting sick. Samsung expands the idea by combining five body signals into a new Vitals score, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 also brings hardware upgrades including a 5,000-nit display—the brightest on any smartwatch—and diving features developed with Mares. Both the Galaxy Watch8 and Ultra2 launch August 7, starting at $379.99 and $699.99, respectively.
