Garmin will stream a launch on YouTube at 7am ET on Tuesday, August 25, and it has not said what the event is for. The company is billing it as a "groundbreaking launch event" under its Play Harder branding, and the teaser art shows a runner in a hydration vest, which points at the running and adventure end of the range rather than at any one watch. The premiere page is already live, so anyone who wants to watch the reveal happen can.
The expectation is the Fenix 9, and it rests entirely on things Garmin did not put out. Fitness Tracker Test spotted a Czech retailer, SkiAndBike, listing the watches, and Gadgets & Wearables found 18 configurations in it across 43 mm, 47 mm and 51 mm cases, with AMOLED models sitting alongside separate MIP Solar versions, and with inReach satellite connectivity reaching down to the smallest case. An FCC filing spotted earlier this month for what is believed to be the same watch pointed at mobile internet and satellite communication as options. No MicroLED model appears anywhere in those 18, which would leave the display technology Garmin introduced on the Fenix 8 Pro out of the opening lineup. None of it is confirmed, and Tuesday morning is when that changes.
