Garmin's phone app already knows about a Cirqa Smart Band Pro.

Gadgets & Wearables found the name inside Garmin Connect, the app every Garmin wearable pairs with. One line of tutorial text reads: "You can set alarms on your CIRQA Smart Band Pro in the Garmin Connect app." It's there in version 5.28.1 and again in 5.29, so it isn't a string that slipped into one build and vanished. The same group of text names the plain Cirqa Smart Band in a separate line, which makes it hard to read "Pro" as a slip for the band Garmin already sells.

That band launched in July as Garmin's answer to Whoop: a $200 strap and sensor module with no screen and no subscription. We wrote about it at launch. It has a single side button, and Garmin's own instructions say you start an activity by tapping it.

Spoken stats and a volume setting point to a Pro that can tell you your numbers without you pulling the phone out.

The new text doesn't describe one button. It tells you to press "either button" to snooze an alarm and hold "either button" to stop it.

Nearby lines go further. They mention an "activity button" that starts, pauses and stops a workout, and a "controls button" that opens a menu and lets you hear your daily stats. The activity button turns the volume up and the controls button turns it down, and you wait for the new level to be confirmed. Holding the controls button can call for help. Holding either one cancels that request, until you hear the word "Canceled".

A band with no screen that talks back would be a different product from the one on sale. Today everything the Cirqa records reaches you through your phone. Spoken stats and a volume setting point to a Pro that can tell you your numbers without you pulling the phone out. The code doesn't say how. It could be a speaker in the band, or sound sent through earbuds or the phone itself.

One caveat matters a lot here. Only the alarm line carries the Pro name. The button and audio instructions sit in the same tutorial group and read like the same device, but they aren't labeled Pro, and they could belong to something else that shares Garmin's tutorial text.

Garmin hasn't announced a Pro, and a name in app code is a record of work in progress rather than a promise to ship. The timing isn't clear either. The base band has been on sale for about two months.

Version 5.29 also adds new code for identifying Cirqa devices when they connect to the app. That's the kind of plumbing a company adds before a second product under the same name shows up.
