Apple Vision Pro 2 · Reported Feature

Weight is the whole problem

What we’re expecting

At ~600g and $3,499, the current Vision Pro reached only developers and early adopters. The barrier is head weight, since the compute sits in the headset. Apple is exploring an external compute puck that would move the M-series chip out of the headband, the main path to a wearable-weight headset.

Apple's working on a lighter, cheaper Vision Pro, and that's basically the whole project right now. The original weighs enough that Apple shipped a separate battery pack just to keep it wearable for more than a few minutes, so shedding weight isn't a nice-to-have. It's the prerequisite for anyone using the thing daily. New materials are in development, but nothing's close enough to name a price or a date.
