Meta's newest AI model took over the assistant in its app and on meta.ai in April. Two months later it shipped inside a pair of glasses, and Meta Glasses are the first to launch with Muse Spark running from day one.
Say "Hey Meta, look and" followed by a question, and the glasses photograph what is in front of you for the assistant to answer from. There is no screen on them, so the answer comes back as speech through the open-ear speakers.
Live translation picked up fourteen languages at launch, among them Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean and Arabic.
Walking directions are the exception. According to Meta, pedestrian navigation for glasses without a display was coming soon on 23 June, the day the lineup was announced. What works today is ambient audio guidance as you walk, which is the same idea one step short of turn-by-turn.
Muse Spark reached the app in April. The turn-by-turn it was meant to speak was still coming in June.
