Samsung's four Galaxy S27 phones have shown up in China's MIIT database, and only two of them list Ultra-Wideband. SammyGuru reports that the filings for the S27 Ultra and S27 Pro include UWB, while the documents for the S27 and S27+ don't mention it.
The Plus is the odd one out. Samsung has put UWB in every Plus phone since the Galaxy S21+, so an S27+ without it would break a run that goes back years.
The listings carry the model numbers SM-S9580, SM-S9570, SM-S9560 and SM-S9520, for the Ultra, Pro, Plus and base S27 in that order. All four confirm cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. That's about all they say. MIIT records radios and regulatory details, not cameras, screens, batteries or chips, so the specs that have leaked for the Pro and Ultra get no help from these documents either way.
UWB locates things far more precisely than Bluetooth, and Galaxy phones use it to find nearby devices and accessories, including Galaxy SmartTags. If you keep a SmartTag on your keys or your bag, this is the feature in question. Most of what has leaked about the cheaper pair so far has been about upgrades they won't get, and this would be the first thing the Plus actually loses.
The S27+ could still carry the UWB hardware, though. The filings show what Samsung submitted, and the gap may be limited to the Chinese models.
If it holds, UWB joins a growing list of things that split the S27 range in two. The S27 and S27+ are reported to keep last year's 12MP selfie camera, with the newer 16MP front camera going to the Pro and Ultra. The S27 and S27+ are also expected to stay at 25W and 45W wired charging, while the Pro is expected to reach 60W.
A Korean tipster says Samsung plans to raise prices across the S27 range, and another tipster now puts the base S27 at $999 and the Ultra at $1,499. Paying more for a Plus that loses a feature its predecessors had would make the step up to the Pro an easier call.
Parts for all four phones were reported to be ramping in mid-October, and the S27 series is expected in early 2027. Samsung hasn't said anything about UWB on any of them.
If you're set on the S27+ and you rely on SmartTags, check its spec sheet when Samsung publishes one before you order, and keep the S27 Pro in mind as the alternative. If the base S27 or the Pro was already your pick, these filings change nothing for you.
