What we’re expecting
The chip inside is purpose-built but low-power, designed for sensor management and wireless, not inference. All heavy AI work passes through to the iPhone, which keeps the pendant thin, light, and long-lasting on battery.
Apple's rumored AI pendant is reportedly built around a chip closer to what's inside AirPods than what powers an Apple Watch, and that tells you a lot about what this thing is designed to do. Apple Watch runs full apps, tracks your heart rate, and handles workouts. AirPods' H2 chip handles audio processing and noise cancellation, nothing more. A pendant built around that kind of chip isn't meant to crunch data on its own; it's leaning on your iPhone to do the heavy lifting.
