If your Apple Watch showed the right time this morning but the wrong one whenever you lowered your wrist, you're not imagining it. The clocks went back an hour, the main watch face caught up, and the always-on display didn't. In rest mode the screen keeps showing the old time. Raise your wrist and the correct time comes back.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple gives three ways to clear it, and none takes more than a minute. Switch to any other watch face, then switch back to the one you use. Or restart the watch. Or leave it alone, and the problem goes away by itself at midnight.

Owners in Europe hit it a week early. Most European countries move their clocks a week or two before the US, and this year the gap was one week, so people there started posting about it on Reddit and X last week, some with video of the screen flipping between the two times. With the US now on standard time, a lot more watches are showing it.

Daylight saving changes have tripped up the Apple Watch since the Series 4 in 2018. Apple fixed that one, a similar bug came back in 2021, and now it's back again this fall.

The dimmed screen is the time most people read, at a glance, without lifting an arm. An hour off there is easy to miss and easy to trust.

A watch that reads right in both states needs nothing. One that doesn't needs a face swap and back, a restart, or a wait until midnight.
