Two One UI 9 Watch beta builds turned up on Samsung's servers hours apart on Tuesday. The first was for the Galaxy Watch 8, and the second was for the Galaxy Watch 7, carrying build L310XXU2ZZH2. Samsung began testing One UI 9 Watch on the Galaxy Watch 8 in July and has not started the public beta yet. Last year it opened the One UI 8 Watch beta for existing watches before it unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. This year the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are already unveiled, on sale in several markets and running One UI 9 Watch out of the box, and older watches have nothing.

One UI 9 Watch is built on Wear OS 7. On the new flagships it adds Raise to Talk for Gemini, which wakes Google's assistant when you lift your wrist, plus Vitals, which tracks health metrics overnight and compares them against your own baseline, and Fitness Index. Samsung has not said which of those an older watch gets. The One UI 8 Watch beta ran on the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 5 lineups, so the Watch 6 series is the reasonable floor for this one. The stable One UI 8 Watch update went back as far as the Galaxy Watch 4 series.
