Samsung has an unreleased watch in its own app code, listed as galaxy_rtos_watch. The codename is Galaxy Aero, and it would run a real-time operating system rather than Google's Wear OS. Pricing would sit above the Galaxy Fit 4 and below the Galaxy Watch FE. Nobody knows the screen shape yet, only that there is one. Samsung may ship it under a different name, since Galaxy Aero reads as an internal codename.
The Galaxy Fit 3 already runs FreeRTOS, and it handles fitness tracking, sleep monitoring, media controls and basic notifications on 16MB of memory, with a 208mAh battery that lasts almost two weeks. Wear OS watches run downloadable apps, Google Maps, Wallet and Gemini, and most need charging every day or two. An RTOS watch would lean on Samsung's own health tools and watch faces, with third-party apps limited. Samsung committed the Galaxy Watch 9 to five years of Wear OS upgrades two weeks ago.
