Samsung's One UI 9 update, built on Android 17, is leaving some Galaxy S24 and S25 owners with much worse battery life, 9to5Google reported. One Galaxy S24 Ultra owner on X saw the battery drop 95% in 3 hours and 15 minutes of screen time, and Samsung contacted them to book a service appointment at a nearby store. A Galaxy S25 owner says they now have to “charge my phone 3 to 4 times a day.” Others on Reddit describe the phone draining while it just sits idle.
The complaints so far come from a small number of owners on X, Reddit and Samsung's community forum. Samsung hasn't said what's causing the drain. If your battery got worse after updating, restart the phone first. A factory reset is the bigger step, so back up your data before you try it.
