Samsung may be about to reverse its safety advice for overheating Galaxy Buds. The company currently tells users to pull hot earbuds out of the charging case and keep them out until they cool down, but a new string discovered inside the Galaxy Buds app points the opposite way.

Android Authority found the message while tearing down Galaxy Buds app version 9.0.10.1724: "Your earbuds will be turned off for your safety. Put both earbuds in the case and wait. You can use your earbuds again when they cool down." The wording suggests newer Galaxy Buds carry upgraded thermal protection that cuts charging current and shuts the earbuds off automatically when they overheat, rather than just beeping. Samsung has not confirmed the change or updated its support documents yet.
