Samsung has been filling in its smart glasses pitch since Unpacked, and the argument is that a phone maker builds these differently. Executive Choi Jae-in described non-display Android XR glasses that lean on split computing to keep the frames light, quoting up to nine hours of battery, gesture control through a Galaxy Watch, and frames from Warby Parker and Gentle Monster. Samsung frames itself as a company "made by a smartphone specialist", against Meta building a standalone accessory.
Samsung has said only that the price will be reasonable, with reporting pointing at $299 to $399 depending on the frame. On privacy it is more specific, promising hardware-level safeguards that block recording rather than a light and a policy, which is a pointed choice of ground in a week when stickers turned up that defeat Meta's recording light. The glasses arrive this autumn.
