Privacy LEDs when the camera is live

Indicator lights show when the cameras are active, Apple's answer to the surveillance concerns that trailed Meta's glasses.

Gurman says Apple's glasses will have cameras arranged in an oval pattern on the front, ringed by indicator lights that show when the camera's recording. Privacy LEDs aren't new. Meta's Ray-Ban glasses have had them for years, but Apple's oval arrangement is a specific design choice that puts the lights where they're hardest to miss. Wearable cameras make people nervous, and a visible light doesn't fully fix that, but it's a harder thing to ignore than a tiny dot tucked in a corner.
