Do the Galaxy Glasses cameras autofocus?
Samsung still hasn't said. It has confirmed a camera and said nothing about how it focuses. GalaxyClub reported autofocus in January 2026, and Android Headlines later reported it too. Fixed focus is normal on smart glasses and struggles up close, so the answer matters.
Why does autofocus matter on smart glasses?
Fixed focus, the usual kind, does poorly up close. Autofocus affects whether an assistant can read menus, labels and printed text.
What is poLight's TLens?
TLens is an autofocus lens made by poLight, a company headquartered in Tønsberg, Norway. poLight says TLens "focuses and spherically deforms our patented polymer when a voltage is applied to it." Samsung has not said whether the Galaxy Glasses use it. The report comes from GalaxyClub.
How does TLens compare with the usual autofocus motor?
poLight says a voice coil motor is widely used in today's camera modules. In poLight's own comparison for a 32MP, 1/2.8 inch camera module, TLens uses under 6 mW and responds in 1 ms, while the voice coil motor uses over 180 mW and takes 8 to 10 ms. poLight also lists TLens as smaller, under 8 by 8 mm against over 10 by 10 mm. These are poLight's figures, not independent measurements.
Which devices has poLight shown using TLens?
poLight's augmented reality page lists the Magic Leap 2, the LLVision LEION Pro and the Vuzix Shield as TLens design win examples in customer devices, plus one more device it does not name. The page does not mention Samsung.
Do other smart glasses cameras autofocus?
Few makers say how their camera focuses. On the pages we checked in October 2026, Vuzix says the camera on its LX1 "supports automatic focus from 10 centimeters (3.94 inches) to infinity." Rokid lists "AF: Not supported" for its Rokid AI Glasses Style and for its Rokid Glasses. Most other makers we checked do not state how their camera focuses. Samsung has not either: the autofocus report for the Galaxy Glasses comes from GalaxyClub.
