Suunto's Race 3S would run 45 hours on dual-band GPS without getting any thicker or heavier, if the leaked product material is genuine. Gadgets & Wearables reported that the material lists an October 15 target launch and a $499 US price.
Some of the material has also shown up on Reddit, and the AI image-detection tools Gadgets & Wearables tried returned conflicting results, so it couldn't verify any of it. Treat it as an unverified leak. A "target launch" date isn't fixed either.
The Race S manages 30 hours of dual-band GPS. The leaked Race 3S figure is 45 hours in Performance mode and 55 hours in Endurance mode. An Ultra mode shows up in one render, but its runtime is hidden. The material credits a silicon-carbon anode battery, which Suunto hasn't promoted on its existing sports watches. Silicon-carbon cells can hold more energy in the same space than conventional graphite-based lithium-ion designs, and that would fit with the watch staying the same size.
The material gives the Race 3S 45mm across, 11.4mm thick and 53 grams, the same weight and thickness as the titanium Race S. One slide calls it a 46mm case while the direct Race S comparison lists both watches at 45mm, so the diameter isn't settled.
The 1.32-inch AMOLED stays at 466 x 466, but peak brightness jumps from 600 to 2,000 nits. Sapphire crystal replaces Gorilla Glass, and storage doubles from 32GB to 64GB. Water resistance stays at 5 ATM, offline maps stay, and the bezel is titanium.
The material describes a premium trail-running watch, and navigation is a big part of the pitch, with dual-band GNSS and free global topographic maps. On the training side the material lists Trail Race Planner with climb guidance, Training Zone, Energy Sense, AI Coach support and SuuntoPlus integrations with more than 120 sport partners. Some of those features may reach other Suunto watches too, so they aren't safe to count as Race 3S exclusives.
The colors are Titanium Orchid, Titanium Feather and Titanium Black, all three already seen elsewhere. A larger Race 3 is also coming at some stage. Gadgets & Wearables says the Race 3 family has already turned up in regulatory filings, on Suunto's own website and in retailer listings.
If you're weighing a Race S right now, the date is what to watch. The Race S is the current model, and if October 15 holds, its replacement lands about two weeks from now.
