Mark Gurman at Bloomberg reported the last of the foldable details on the eve of the event, and the name is the surprise: Apple is calling it iPhone Duo, not Ultra and not Fold. It starts at $2,000 with 256GB of storage, and the higher storage tiers are priced well above that to hold the entry point down. Apple is also absorbing some of the recent memory component price increases rather than passing all of them to buyers, which lands the phone considerably below what some analysts had predicted.
The Duo reaches customers in October, a few weeks behind the iPhone 18 Pro, which is still expected this month. The colors are white and dark blue. Apple Pencil support is back on the list too, after an earlier report had Apple abandoning it. The Duo joins a fall lineup with nothing under a thousand dollars. The keynote starts at 10am Pacific.
