Tipster @phonefuturist said on X that Samsung is evaluating a super telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom and a 1/1.9-inch sensor for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The S26 Ultra ships a 50MP 5x telephoto on a considerably smaller 1/2.5-inch sensor, beside a 10MP 3x shooter that Samsung is already believed to be dropping. With the 200MP main camera covering 2x and 3x, the new super telephoto would be the only dedicated zoom left on the phone.
Reach falls and light-gathering rises, and Samsung has not settled which it wants. The same tipster says the larger 4x sensor is being weighed against simply keeping the 5x. The base models change too, with the S27 and S27+ tested on the same 3x system rumored for the S27 Pro, where the S26 and S26+ still use a 10MP 1/3.94-inch sensor and ETNews has reported a 12MP 3x for the Pro.
