How do we charge a fleet of them?
Vuzix sells a charger kit that fills four LX1 batteries at once, each bay with its own LED so a supervisor can see which packs are ready. It is a separate purchase at $199.99, and it ships with the AC adapter and power cord.
How cold can it work in?
Vuzix rates LX1 to operate from -20C to 45C and to survive storage from -30C to 70C, tested to the MIL-STD-810H standard. Operating humidity is 0% to 95%. That range is the reason it goes into freezer aisles and cold stores.
Is it water or dust resistant?
Vuzix does not state an IP rating for LX1. Its Smart Glasses page calls the device out for a "Rugged IP 4 Certification", which is not a complete IP code, and the LX1's own ENVIRONMENT spec lists temperature and humidity and no IP figure at all. So we state no water or dust rating for it. The M400, a different Vuzix product, is clearly rated IP67.
What is in the box?
The glasses, the 7000mAh clip-in battery, a headband with an easy-release mount, a user manual, a mounting guide and a one-year manufacturer's warranty. The multi-battery charging station and the baseball cap mount are listed as available and bought separately.
What can it mount to?
The headband comes in the box. Vuzix also sells a hat mount at $14.99 and a bump cap at $49.99 from its own accessories rail, and describes the mounting options as cap, headband and more.
Does it run the Google Play Store?
No. Vuzix does not license Google Mobile Services for LX1, so there is no Play Store on the device. Vuzix runs its own App Store built for the LX1, and a development team can build and load its own Android apps.
Will it work with the software we already run?
Vuzix says its smart glasses run Android and take common enterprise MDM platforms, so IT can provision, secure and update them with the tools it already uses. An open SDK and camera APIs cover custom apps, Vuzix names its own Mobilium product for SAP, and it works with system integrators on WMS, MES and field service platforms. Microsoft Teams and Zoom come pre-loaded on the separate Remote Assist Kit, not on the base glasses.
How do we get it onto our Wi-Fi?
The quickest way is a QR code. Vuzix hosts a browser tool that builds one from your network name and password and generates it locally, so neither reaches Vuzix's servers, and the camera on the glasses scans it. A technician can also connect by hand from the device's own Network and Internet settings.
How big is the camera, and what can it shoot?
Vuzix's own pages do not agree, so we quote them rather than pick. The LX1 product page's spec sheet says up to 12-megapixel stills with auto-focus, streaming video at 1080p and 60fps, an LED flash and high accuracy barcode scanning. Vuzix's developer documentation for the same device says up to 12.8MP stills and 4k video with image stabilization. Ask Vuzix which figure applies to the unit you would be buying.
Can we buy it where we operate?
Vuzix says LX1 holds FCC and CE certification for market access in the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Japan, and that commercial shipments have started. The glasses carry model number 516 and are made for Vuzix by Quanta Computer in Taiwan.
What if we need to send one back?
Vuzix accepts returns of product in new and unused condition within 30 days of delivery for anything bought on its own site, and puts approved refunds back on the original payment method within 10 business days. Return shipping is the buyer's cost. Vuzix processes orders in 3 to 5 business days, and says most orders take 3 to 10 days to arrive once shipped.
