The iPhone Duo opens to a 7.6-inch screen, starts at $1,999 and is the first iPhone without Face ID. Touch ID moved into the side button, because the camera under the inner display cannot do face recognition. There is no dedicated telephoto lens either. The two rear cameras are a 48MP main at f/1.6 and a 48MP ultra wide, and The Mac Observer found in Apple's spec sheet that the 2x telephoto is a crop from the main sensor rather than a separate lens. The $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro keeps both, and adds a variable aperture that runs from f/1.48 to f/4.
The Duo is also the first iPhone sold with no SIM tray in any country. Every market gets the eSIM-only version, with two lines active at once and eight or more profiles stored, where the 18 Pro drops the tray in 12 countries and keeps it everywhere else. Pre-orders open October 16 and the phone ships October 23, five weeks after the 18 Pro reaches stores. Apple discontinued the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max the same day it showed the Duo, and the 18 Pro went up $100 to $1,199, so the foldable lands $800 above the cheapest new Pro.
