XREAL's Aura glasses went on sale today in the US, Canada and South Korea, and they cost less than XREAL said they would. Orders open in Japan on November 2. Through December, the 12GB model with 256GB of storage is $1,099 instead of $1,279. The 16GB model with 512GB is $1,299 instead of $1,499.
That's $180 off the base pair and $200 off the bigger one. Orders placed now are due to ship in mid-November, Gizmodo reported, citing XREAL.
The glasses run Android XR with Gemini built in. A wire runs from the frames to a pocket puck that does the computing and carries the battery. The micro-OLED display tops out at 1200p and 120Hz, with a 70-degree field of view, and XREAL puts the weight under 95 grams. You can also plug them into a laptop and use them as a big floating screen.
The Aura was first shown in May 2025, so this has been a long wait.
Inside, an X1S chip runs the frames while a Snapdragon chip in the puck does the heavy lifting. Three cameras face outward: two track your surroundings and one takes photos and video. The puck has a trackpad on it, so you aren't stuck waving at the air to get around. These are also the first Android XR glasses from anyone other than Samsung. If you wear glasses, XREAL is expected to offer prescription inserts.
XREAL also launched a game controller made with GameSir that has its own Gemini key, plus a wireless keyboard it pitches for working across several windows at once.
The Aura was first shown in May 2025, so this has been a long wait. The closest rival isn't out yet. Meta's VR Glasses share a lot with the Aura: the same 70-degree field of view, a compute puck of their own and a $1,299 price. Meta won't release them until spring 2027.
If you want Android XR glasses this year, the Aura is the only pair you can order. The discount ends in December, and at $1,099 the base model is $200 under Meta's price.
If you'd rather compare the two side by side before spending over a thousand dollars, waiting until spring costs you the discount but not much else. After December, the Aura goes back to $1,279 and $1,499.
