XREAL announced on Wednesday that its Aura Android XR glasses start at $1,279 for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and $1,499 for 16GB and 512GB, Android Authority reports. Pre-orders are open only to people who already paid a reservation deposit, and orders for everyone else open in the coming weeks. Shipping starts in mid-November in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea, with more countries in 2027.

The glasses weigh under 95 grams, but they're tethered to a puck that runs Android XR with Gemini and carries a Snapdragon Reality Elite chip and a trackpad. At $1,279 the Aura lands $20 under Meta's VR Glasses. WIRED tried both and found Meta's better for sitting and typing, with the Aura's see-through lenses better for walking around. If you want a pair when they start shipping, paying the reservation deposit now gets you priority delivery.
