Snap used its Specs event on Wednesday to show what the $2,195 AR glasses will actually run. The lineup Snap announced includes HBO Max, Spotify, a Shopify app for viewing products in 3D, NBA and WNBA training, and an AI service called Specs Intelligence that puts relevant information in your view without being asked. Snap also signed Verizon, so people can try Specs at select Verizon stores and buy data plans, and it added a charging case with its own cellular connection. The glasses are still slated for the US, UK and France later this fall, with no firmer date.

Engadget's Karissa Bell, who has tried every pair of glasses Snap has made, liked the software. "The operating system feels more polished than previous versions, and Snap has more apps that feel like they would actually be useful." She is less sure who the glasses are for, and they arrive in a market where IDC says Meta holds 70% of smart glasses sales.
