A leaked Geekbench run puts the A20 Pro CPU roughly a quarter faster

Apple's percentages are its own generation-to-generation comparisons, published with no test conditions behind them. The only measured A20 Pro score in public is an unverified leak.

Ask about the iPhone 18 Pro

Apple quotes the A20 Pro's GPU at up to 40 percent faster than the A19 Pro, the Neural Engine at double the AI processing and memory bandwidth at 50 percent more. It attaches no CPU percentage to the iPhone 18 Pro at all. The Mac Observer found the one A20 Pro CPU figure, up to 20 percent faster than the A19 Pro, on the iPhone Duo's page instead. Apple also claims up to 35 percent better sustained performance than an iPhone 17 Pro for the Duo, and not for the Pro phones. Same chip, three phones, different published claims.

A Geekbench 6 entry shared on X by the leaker Anvin gives the A20 Pro 4,719 single-core and 12,677 multi-core, as published by Android Headlines. Against the iPhone 17 Pro's best runs of 3,792 and 9,746 that's a gain of roughly 24 to 28 percent, and it puts the chip ahead of MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 on single-core while trailing it on multi-core. They aren't official scores. We wrote this morning that every 2026 iPhone with new silicon starts at a Pro price, and the A20 Pro is still the only new chip in the lineup. Pre-orders opened on September 12 at $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max, both at 256GB.

Update, Sep 12, 10:59 AM CT: Digital Trends reported a Geekbench 7 single-core score of 4,042 for the A20 Pro in the iPhone 18 Pro Max, ahead of the 3,785 posted by the 18-core M5 Max.

Update, Sep 12, 7:43 AM CT: Apple gives the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max the same cooling claim and no sustained performance figure for either, per The Mac Observer, though the Max is 38 grams heavier.
