Tipster Digital Chat Station has named Qualcomm's next flagship processor the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with the model number SM8975, and SamMobile published the specifications a month before Qualcomm announces the chip. It is fabricated on TSMC's second-generation 2nm process, the manufacturing step that determines how much circuitry fits in a given space. Its eight CPU cores are split three ways, two running at 5.01GHz, three at 4.03GHz and three at 3.74GHz, with graphics handled by a new Adreno 850. Qualcomm is launching a step-down Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 alongside it next month.

Samsung's own Exynos 2700 is expected in the Galaxy S27 and S27+, built on Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm process, so one phone lineup will carry two 2nm chips made by rival manufacturers. The Snapdragon goes into the S27 Pro and the S27 Ultra in every market. Samsung is reportedly confident the Exynos beats the Snapdragon on both speed and power efficiency. All four phones are expected early next year.

Update, Sep 4, 8:43 AM CT: Per Android Headlines, tipster kro places Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in both the Galaxy S27 Pro and the S27 Ultra, on pricing Samsung negotiated.

Update, Sep 2, 5:21 PM CT: The Galaxy S27 Ultra could take an Exynos 2700 outside the US, the first Ultra on Samsung silicon since 2022, per Digital Trends.
