Samsung is testing two new versions of its wide Galaxy Z Fold 9, the leaker Lanzuk reported on Naver, citing display supply chain sources. One is a "Plus" model that's slightly bigger. The other is an "FE" model that keeps the same size with slightly lower specs. Samsung plans to sell only one of them next to the regular Fold 9, and it's reportedly making that call soon.
The reason is the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the first Fold with the wider, passport-style shape, where demand has been stronger than expected. SammyGuru reported that a bigger model could make room for a zoom camera, which the Fold 8 doesn't have. There's nothing yet on chips, batteries or prices. Neither phone would arrive before mid-2027, so if you're shopping for a wide Fold now, the Fold 8 is the one on sale.
