Combined sales of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max rose 3.1% worldwide in their first three weeks compared with last year's launch, according to Counterpoint Research figures reported by MacRumors. China did nearly all the lifting with a 29% jump, while sales fell 4% in the United States and 27% in Japan. Counterpoint credits China's growth to better supply at launch and higher prices on competing Android flagships.
In the US, Counterpoint says buyers didn't see enough change in features or design, even with the new variable aperture camera, and Apple raised starting prices by $100 to $1,199 for the Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max. Weak exchange rates made those prices harder to swallow in Japan. The Pro Max's share of Pro sales slipped from 57% to 56%, helped by growth in India and Southeast Asia that favoured the smaller model. The tracking ended before the iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23, so the next round of figures will show whether Apple's foldable pulls buyers away from the Pro Max.
