They're the first Spectacles sold to anyone, and everything runs in the frames. The catch is the price and a battery rated at about four hours.
Preorders are open at $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit, for a fall ship in the US, UK and France. Snap has said since June that this generation is for developers and early adopters, so the four-hour battery is aimed at people who expected it.
Evan Spiegel told Tom's Guide that glasses passing as ordinary eyewear feel like spying, so Snap built a 130-gram frame nobody could mistake.
Snap filled in the apps and added store demos through Verizon, but the glasses still only have a later-this-fall window, and a reviewer who liked them is not sure who they are for.
Snap will demo Specs in full on September 16, and the price is still the hard part.
Snap may have the best AR software platform in tech, but its $2,500 Specs glasses need to become a successful consumer product before Apple and Google catch up.
At $2,195, Snap's Specs sit exactly between Meta's Ray-Bans and Apple's Vision Pro, and that's the whole point.
Snap's first consumer AR glasses are the first of its kind and cost $2,200, but not everyone is a fan of how they look.
