Lux Optics has shipped Halide 3.2, the first Halide update built for the iPhone 18 Pro. Its new Aperture Priority mode lets you set a target f-number, and the app works out the shutter speed and ISO to expose the shot. A fully manual mode adds direct ISO control. Apple’s own Camera app on that phone offers automatic variable aperture or four fixed stops: ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0. Halide takes any f-number between ƒ/1.48 and ƒ/4.0.
Two new looks, dawn and quicksilver, are for every iPhone, not just the Pro. Dawn is warm in the bright and middle tones, with soft, rich shadows. Quicksilver is high contrast with muted color, inspired by silver-retention processes. There’s also a new 16:9 shooting mode. Halide Mark III costs $69.99 outright or $19.99 a year, and it first launched in May.
