Apple Watch Series 12 · Reported Feature

Blood pressure monitoring, still in development

What we’re expecting

Bloomberg's Gurman has reported Apple is working on a wrist-based blood pressure monitor, and DigiTimes flagged new sensor changes for at least one 2026 Watch model. The feature would build on watchOS 26 Hypertension Alerts, moving from trend detection to actual readings. Whether FDA review completes in time, and whether it ships in Series 12 or Ultra 4, is the open question.

Apple is working on a high blood pressure notification feature, but you can't use it yet. The FDA still has to sign off, and Apple hasn't said whether it lands on Series 12, Ultra 4, or both. Blood pressure readings drive medical decisions, so the agency wants proof of accuracy first. No date on when that clears.
