TrendForce put out a new report on October 28, with the iPhone Duo on sale for nearly a week, and it now expects Apple to take 29.8% of the foldable phone market in 2027, 9to5Mac reports. The firm still expects Apple to ship 5 million of them by the end of 2026, the same figure it gave the day after the phone was announced. It credits Apple's control of its own chips, software and app developers, and says better app support and sturdier hardware would make the big inner screen more useful.
That would put Apple second in foldables next year. TrendForce has Samsung slipping from 35.1% this year to 31.9% in 2027, and Huawei dropping from 24.8% to 21.3%. It is a forecast of shipments, not a count of sales, and it lands while Apple is replacing cracked Duo inner screens under AppleCare, so how the hinge holds up matters more to a buyer this month than where Apple ranks next year.
